It's My Party

I’m sad and lonely, my man ain't answering,
and I'm kind of buzzed.
Can’t lay around, got to get up and get down
Turning my sadness into a party

Done crying, time to dance
Until everything is alright within

Called on my girls, all happy with their men,
they ain’t got time for this party
celebrating my  misery

Called on my mother
She didn’t comprehend, rejoicing
Unhappiness and seclusion
“Child you need a man”

Done crying, time to dance
Until everything is alright within

This is my party, not of pity
Spinning Olde School tracks
 Dancing in the nude
In front of the mirror, looking at all my flaunts
At each mark, and what gravity took
 Accepting what I can’t change,
stopping the rejection. Loving me despite the pain

I dance at this party, not the wall flower
Dancing until my feet burn, and my limbs ache
Finding the joy within me, and what makes me happy
I don’t know when it started, looking for my
happiness in the love of some man.

Done crying, time to dance
Until everything is alright within

At my party, I drink and dance
Celebrating my loneliness
 Which allowed me to see
the woman who truly loves me
Dancing away the hurt, laughing away the tears.

I danced all night, and what I realized
I’m alone, but never lonely
 learning to love the isolation
That gives me time to listen to my essence.
Reaching deep down inside to the woman I am
Who showed me just how far I’ve come.

It's My Party, and I'll dance if I want too.
